Tackling anti-social behaviour remains a priority in the city and yesterday (Wednesday 16 September), two men were arrested following anti-social behaviour in the city centre. Officers arrested a man in his 30s at 2.30pm on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in the Haymarket. Due to concerns about behaviour in the area, a Section 35 dispersal order was put in place yesterday afternoon. These powers allow officers to direct individuals to leave a specified area for up to 48 hours to help prevent further anti-social behaviour. Later that afternoon, a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of failing to comply with a Section 35 order issued to him earlier in the day. Last night, another man was also issued with a Section 35 dispersal order. Both men who were arrested have since been charged. |
